What I liked
--"This place is death" I'm not a big Charlotte fan, but she was the best part of this episode, from that awesome quote to her revelation that Faraday was the person who warned her not to come back to the island when she was a child.
--Jack's dad telling Locke that he has to die to save the island. Locke crying, but then accepting what he has to do was a great moment. He's a great character, but oftentimes he's robotic in his insistence in his belief in what the island tells him and what his destiny is. His emotion and eventual acceptance in what he has to do was nice to see.
--Eloise. Not a shocker that she's revealed to be Dan's mother, and she's probably also the Ellie character from the 1957 time travel part from two weeks ago, but Lost's greatest strength and perhaps what it does better than any show is continually adding new characters that drive the story and remain interesting at the same time.
--The Smoke Monster ripping the guy's arm off, and the arm still lying there when Jin travels back to the present.
--Ben stopping the car abruptly to yell at Jack. If I had the choice between Sun shooting me or listening to Jack talk, I would have to do a lot of thinking.
--Jin's English. High comedy.
What I didn't like
--Young Rousseau going crazy. Disappointing considering Rousseau's exploits on the island as one of the cooler backstories they could have explored with the whole time travel. There could have been an episode exploring that, but instead it was just a five minute scene.
--Sun going from wanting to shoot Ben to trusting him in a second, just because he held up a ring. How is that proof that Jin is alive? Jin even told Locke to take the ring to Sun and tell her that they found him washed ashore. We know that Ben is telling the truth, but it was unrealistic that Sun would believe him so readily without asking any questions.
--With Locke presumably traveling back to 2007, and the stories are now coming together. Not that it's a bad thing, but it's getting to that point where it's clear that writers are no longer marking time and that the story is heading towards a conclusion.
