Cape Night

During the middle of the fourth season of 24, Manny had just gotten home from work, and was still wearing his shirt and tie while he sat at his computer. James went into his room to hang out, saw that Manny was wearing a tie, so he went into his room to put his tie on. I walked into Manny's room too, probably to punch him in the face, and saw that James and Manny were wearing ties. So I went into my room and put my tie on. This may seem weird, but I assure you, this is all very reasonable to us. And at 9:00, we sat on the couch and started watching Jack Bauer torture some terrorists and say "Dammit" fifty times. And every week since then, we've worn ties every Monday night when 24 is airing an original episode (Jen jumped in on the fun during Season 5, and any guests visiting are forced to wear ties). When 24 is on, none of us even refer to Monday as "Monday", we all just call the first work day of the week, "Tie Night".

24 sucks now, and Heroes is coming back tomorrow night at 9:00 A.M. So I've decided to start a new tradition. The tradition of Cape Night. Before each new episode of Heroes, we will put on capes (or tie blankets to our necks, if you want to be an asshole about it), and then we will sit and watch the hit NBC show. Tarik does not watch Heroes, but he will also wear a cape and join in on the festivities. And afterwards, we will fly off into the night, in search for adventure and to thwart our enemies.

I wonder why capes aren't fashionably acceptable. Is it because Superman is kind of gay? How come gay people like Superman get to wear all the cool clothes, while I have to wear regular T-Shirts? Does Kanye West or Jay-Z have to start wearing capes in order to move the mainstream into cape acceptance? I think I will write Mr. West and Mr. Z a letter of suggestion. Let's move this revolutionary fashion trend.

Capes.
