Why So Serious?

Heath Ledger died today. I have to admit, the first thought that went through my mind when word started spreading around was "Fuck! What's going to happen to The Dark Knight?" Which wasn't as bad as some people around the office were saying, that this had to be a publicity stunt for the Batman movie. It turns out, Dark Knight is in post-production, and unfortunately this wasn't a publicity stunt at all.

I don't really know a lot about Heath Ledger's career so I can't say I was a fan, but he was an Oscar nominated actor starring in the next Batman movie, and I've been a Batman mark all my life, so I was excited to see what he'd do in the Joker role. Vincent and I would joke about how if the Joker kissed Rachel Dawes in the new movie, that Ledger would probably be the only actor in Hollywood who's made out with both Gyllenhaal siblings. And the trailer for the movie blew me away the first time I saw it. It really looks like he knocked the role out of the park and his scenes in the trailer made me roughly 83523852x more excited to see it. And now he's dead.

I liked this tribute to the Joker, which I guess judging from the comments is now a tribute to Ledger.
