When I was in college, our basketball team would play Virginia Tech a couple of times a year. Those games were always fun, because people from Virginia Tech are jerks. That's a good thing. From my experience, V-Tech fans were loud, funny, and supportive of their teams. Heckling, for the most part, is all about fun to begin with. And what happened down there is really sad and messed up and I don't think there's much else to say that hasn't already been said.

When I watched some of the convocation that was on TV earlier today, there were tears and prayers. But what stuck out for me is, all of a sudden, out of nowhere, a giant "Let's Go Hokies!" chant starts. And that reminded me all about going to games against Virginia Tech and going at it with all of them. In a lot of ways, that sort of chant at that sort of event is kind of inappropriate, but in a lot of other ways that's the most appropriate thing they could've done. Everyone grieves in their own way.

Godspeed.
