It's March 1st, which means of course, that HBO updated their schedules for the next two months, which means of course, the official Sopranos episode titles are up, which means of course, that I'm really excited. The big news is that the first episode is now "Soprano Home Movies", not "A Few Kind Words". This may not seem like a big deal, but it is. You are wrong if you think differently.
Historically, one can look at the episode titles in three ways:
1. The Episode title usually superficial, like it's something that's said or done or seen in the actual episode. For example, the season finale of season 4, "Whitecaps", was the name of the beach house that Tony was going to buy for his family.
2. The title can also be the theme of the episode, or symbolizes something deeper within the context of the entire series. For example the Season 6a episode, "Live Free or Die", means that one needs to be true and at peace with themselves, or else they might as well rather be dead. This seems to be the theme of the sixth season, and we see that in storylines of Tony, Vito, Eugene, and Christopher, among others.
3. Episode titles for The Sopranos can answer all questions that anyone might ever have about the universe. In fact, one can discover the meaning of life via the reading of all The Sopranos episode titles.
