Joel Siegel walked out on a critics screening for Clerks II, saying ""Time to go! First movie I've walked out of in 30 fucking years" on the way out. I know that Kevin Smith can be hit or miss for some people, and that Jersey Girl was as big a disaster for him as The Village (and apparently Lady in the Water) was for M. Night Shamyahaifdhmadohfmafaylayan, but wow. I was excited for Clerks II because Clerks is one of my favorite movies ever, but now I'm not so sure. I don't listen to critics much, but there's something about Joel Siegel that is trustworthy for me.

For instance, here are some excerpts from Joel Siegel's reviews.

"But what makes "The Lake House" a perfect place to spend a few hours this summer are Bullock and Reeves. While I'm watching this movie I'm saying, "Come on, this is impossible. What a cheap shot. I don't believe that." And while I'm saying these things I'm crying like a baby."

"What works is Owen Wilson's wide-open, heart-on-my-sleeve vulnerability, with a goofy tic or two. He somehow makes what could be annoying not annoying, but lovable."

"In the first two films, relationships are very important. In "X-Men 2" there's a beautiful scene between Rogue (Anna Paquin) and Iceman (Shawn Ashmore). They're teenagers with a big teenaged crush, but one of Rogue's mutant powers is the ability to absorb all the energy from anyone she so much as touches. She can't kiss Iceman, she might kill him. But her powers also allow her to feel his icy breathe in a special way that leads to a sweet, romantic interlude."

"Pirates of the Caribbean is the action thrill ride of the summer! Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow was so great to watch, I didn't want to go to the bathroom to put on my tampon."

I trust Joel Siegel.
